Does Glaswegian need translating?

Interesting story that cropped up yesterday in the news. If you are not local to the accent, how have you found listening to and understanding it?

When my sister visited me from the US she couldn't understand what the heck was being said, but I had no problem. My parents said they had a little trouble, but not as much as my sister did. Glaswegian is music to my ears and of all the Scottish accents the one I love the most. LOL!

I can understand why people could find it a little difficult to start, but I do get a little annoyed that it is seen as the most difficult accent to understand in the UK. There are lots of other confusing accents to me!
